CLOUD DATABASE INSIDER
What’s in today’s newsletter:
A legal form company partners with AWS
Coverage of GCP and DataRobot; a Vertex AI Deep Dive
A no-code AI environment integrates with Microsoft Azure
An Intro to Databricks AI/BI Genie
A brief note about Snowflake the stock and not the company (if you know what I mean)
AWS
Robin AI has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to leverage Bedrock and SageMaker for developing and scaling generative AI applications, particularly in contract review.
GCP
Google Cloud and DataRobot collaborate to address generative AI challenges by offering integrated solutions that streamline the development, deployment, and management of AI models, enhancing business outcomes.
Vertex AI is Google Cloud's unified machine learning platform that enables users to build, deploy, and scale AI models efficiently by integrating various tools and services, simplifying the ML workflow from data preparation to model management.
AZURE
Sway AI launches a no-code AI integration with Microsoft Azure, enabling businesses to implement AI solutions without requiring extensive coding skills.
DATABRICKS
Databricks introduces AI/BI Genie, a new tool designed to simplify onboarding for data teams by providing guided workflows, tailored training resources, and automation features to accelerate AI and business intelligence adoption.
SNOWFLAKE
I’m sure if I dig a bit deeper, I’ll find some technical news about Snowflake, but all I’m seeing is news about their stock. I’ll keep digging.
NOSQL DATABASES
Here is an excellent write up about all of the modern databases that that you can think of. I even learned some stuff, and I have been around for a while.
VECTOR DATABASES
The article explains how to build a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) application using NVIDIA's NeMo APIs and a vector database.
It outlines the integration of large language models (LLMs) with vector databases to enable efficient retrieval and generation of relevant information, enhancing the capabilities of AI-driven applications.
DEEP DIVE
This week I will be attending a virtual event presented by the Toronto Data Professionals Community. It involves SQL Server 2022. SQL Server is the first enterprise level database that I worked on, and I started with version 6.5. That is very telling.
I’m quite interested in what the presentation is all about as I have seen this technology just keep chugging along all these years.
If you are new to the database field, I would implore you to start your career poking around and taking courses centered around SQL Server.
Once you are in Management Studio, it may look as if there is nothing to SQL Server. The truth is that SQL Server is a VERY deep application that has vast underpinnings that are not apparent at first glance.
I am actually looking forward to this presentation.
